Organic Infant Mattresses

Why do I need an Organic Mattress and Pad?

It's very simple, most mattresses are laden with toxic chemicals. I mean obviously they don't kill most babys, or they would be banned, but if they only harm them chronically, then they are allowed to exist and be sold.

Unfortunately, evidence has been mounting for 6 decades, that the toxic chemicals found in mattresses and pads, is harming babys.

How Does it Harm them?

Babys have a higher respiratory rate then adults, so they are breathing in the toxic fumes at a higher rate. They have very good livers and kidneys at birth, so this portects them some, but it overworks their system at the expense of other processes that should be occurring, like rapid learning, developing their skills.

So what are these Chemicals?

Many mattresses contain flame retardants, petroleum-based polyester, urethanes, and toxic PVC—materials linked to health concerns.

A 2011 Clean and Healthy New York study found that 72% of crib mattresses tested contained harmful chemicals.

Some companies are also misleading about their ingredients—one even claimed its polyester was “organic,” highlighting how common misinformation is.

What Can I do?

Purchase an organic mattress and pad made with organic latex, pure untreated wools, organic cottons. These can be combined to make a pure mattress and pad that is naturally dust mite, mold, bacteria and fire resistant.

Our Commitment

I have been making organic baby mattresses since 1992, the year my first baby was born. I wanted purity, so I created it. We have developed different styles to meet different budget needs so that all parents can enjoy a nontoxic mattress for their baby.

What Mattress Makes the Most Sense for Me?

When choosing a baby mattress, you have a bunch of options, we have been making these since 1993, always pure

  • Our budget mattress is simply an organic latex core. You can put a sheet over this and it will make a pure comfy but firm sleeping surface for your infant. It will only last a year as air and light will degrade the organic latex.

  • Next option is to have this organic latex with a removable organic cotton outer cover. This style will make the latex last longer and has the benefit of you being able to remove cover for an intense wash. Just do not leave latex uncovered for too long.

  • We have our Celestial option which is latex covered in our organic cotton PUL waterproof fabric. This is hand rinse should it get anything on it or remove the outer fabric cover and throw in washing machine on delicate wash and low dry or hang dry.

  • For a fancier and more user friendly option, we have the latex covered with ecowool on the top to repel moisture. And a secret, if urine gets on untreated wool, the bacteria does not grow so when it dries (which is quick), there is no odor. This features organic cotton bottom. This is easiest to just rinse the top with some soap should something like poop or vomit gets on it.

  • If you prefer a nonlatex option, we have our organic wool insulator which is a nice flat and super breathable surface. This is covered in our organic cotton. These self protect and only the outside needs to be rinsed by hand if it should get urine or other stuff on it.

  • Our most premium option is our organic or ecowool insulator inside with our ecowool waterresistant option outside. This self protects the best and has no cotton in it at all. That means if urine gets on it, just let it dry. If something else gets on it, rinse it off with a mild soap and let air dry. These come in any thickness.

These are made to order and can be made any size. These are not returnable since they are custom, unless defective of course.

Other things you may wish to use with your infant mattress:

Ecowool Moisture Pad to protect your mattress. Puddle Pad These are easy to use, super breathable and machine wash delicate cool, and hang dry. They fold up to go anywhere you may need to protect a surface from accidents.

Protector Pad is a flat piece of our organic cotton waterproof fabric. Waterproof Pad It is very waterproof. Puddles wont go through, even if you try to squeeze it through. These are machine wash delicate and tumble dry low.

Organic Cotton Quilted Pad is for absorbancy only. Quilted Pad They are made to go on top of a water resistant pad to absorb liquid so the urine circle is small and doesn't go everywhere.
